The Mission of Reality

The "mission" of reality is to create forms of increasingly complex experiences and then to recover from them -- while remaining completely able to handle the complexity.

Humans, in general, have yet to become capable of recovering, and so life seems to be a torment of complexity (with occasional, brief periods of ease and pleasure).

This piece talks about, recovering.

"To be ... or not to be -- that is the question.

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune

or to take arms against the sea of troubles

and by opposing, end them ..."

~~ from Hamlet, by William Shakespeare

DOES "LIFE" APPEAR TO BE "SOMETHING",  TO YOU?
Do you awaken from sleep -- and then awaken into your memory of your life situation? Is awakening from sleep into the circumstances of your life a let-down, for you?

Do you carry the memory of your life situation as a mood from day to day and from hour to hour?

Does the mood of your life taint your sense of the moment, degrade your feeling of your life? Do you feel that life involves a necessary struggle to remain positive and enthusiastic?

Do you feel that your only option is to struggle with the circumstances of life to relieve yourself of distress about life, only to find that your struggle is overwhelmed by the sheer weight of life's conditions?

Are you drowning in the circumstances of life?

What if you could relieve yourself of the sense of being dragged down? if you could refresh yourself by relieving yourself of the weight of circumstance without having to struggle with life's conditions? if you could "get your nose above the water line" by changing, not life-at-large, but something about yourself -- and feel better, for it?

Such a change has to do not just with mastering life by learning something new (accumulating memories), but mastering also the dissolution of memories (awakening beyond memory).

We're going to go into a part of the picture that you may not have considered -- that objective experience and your subjective state are two aspects of the same thing.

We start with The Big Picture.

THE SCENARIO in which ALL OF THIS IS HAPPENING

As the Universe has evolved, it has generated, within and from itself, conditions of increasing complexity -- starting with an undifferentiated field of light, then developing particular points-of-location everywhere (of varying density): sub-atomic "particles", then atomic nuclei without electrons (plasma), then atoms, molecules, and at last, lifeforms. This process involved condensation, or consolidation, of a continuum from the least-dense forms (light) to the most solid forms of matter.

Lifeforms are the most complex output of Universal Integration -- and lifeforms exist in a range of complexity from minute prions and viruses to beings with complex organ systems and complex minds. (Whether or not science has concluded that prions and viruses are "lifeforms", those demonstrate the behaviors of lifeforms -- self-initiated movement and self-reproduction, and so I presume to classify them as lifeforms.)

I've just stated the evolution of Universal manifestation from the perspective of scientific objectivity -- observable, measurable things.

There exists another perspective, the perspective of "subjectivity".

"Subjectivity" is the perspective of self, your sense of yourself, your sense of things other than yourself, rather than reference to things as you suppose they exist apart from yourself; it is the experience of most-intimate "hereness", (rather than "thereness").

You may be accustomed to regarding objectivity and subjectivity as distinctly and categorically different. But it ain't so. Your existence is proof that "it ain't so" -- to others you appear as an objective "someone out there"; to yourself, you appear as the one experiencing experience -- a "subject in-here".

There exists both an objective perspective and a subjective perspective for every experience in existence -- but they are differing perspectives of the same thing, perspectives that exist only in mind, not in actuality.

WHY PEOPLE MAKE OBJECTIVE CONDITIONS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THEIR SUBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE

We have been indoctrinated by scientific culture to regard objectivity as the "gold" standard of reality and subjectivity as the "lead" standard -- objectivity being trustworthy and subjectivity being untrustworthy -- hence the division of science into the "hard" sciences (e.g., physics) and the "soft" sciences (psychology or sociology). The term, "scientific objectivity", indicates exactly that distinction.

Scientific objectivity emerged as a counter-action to religious subjectivity -- science being based upon repeatable, verifiable measurement (preserved as knowledge or memory) and religion being based upon repeatable, but unverifiable experiences emerging in the mind of humanity (preserved as doctrine or myth). Both science and religion transmit their perspectives through indoctrination.

This is how you inherited your sense of reality.

Science (and knowledge, in general) is based upon memory of consistent, objectively observable events. Religion (and myth, in general) is based upon imagination and willing belief.

This foray into the difference between objectivity and subjectivity is central to my point in this entry; the mission of conditional reality has to do with a peculiar cycle of experience: (1) the emergence of conditional reality as increasingly different forms of objective experience (objective reality) and (2) the awakening to the subjective perspective we have toward objective reality.

"THE FOUR"
Both objective reality and subjective experience are founded on four kinds of events that they have in common, but which we describe with different terms.

I started by relating how the emergence of the physical universe involved the appearance of particular points ("particles") at particular locations virtually everywhere: "particularity" and "location".

Location is inherent in physical reality, as is particularity. Every particle has to have a particular location (even if more than one location at a time, as in "superposition", a term used by particle physicists to refer to particles measured to be in two places at once). Every location is defined (or located) in by its relation to other particular locations. No particularity, no location. No location, no particularity and no particle.

One necessary requirement for anything particular to exist is persistence. No persistence, no particularity. No particularity, no persistence.

So now, we have the four fundamentals:

  • emergence
  • location
  • particularity
  • persistence
Those four terms are objective terms, things that can be observed from the external viewpoint. Combine them together in your mind and you have the sense of substantiality that characterizes physical reality.

Do this, now: combine those four terms in your mind.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I've identified the four terms that apply to objective experience, but I haven't yet identified how they appear, subjectively, so I'll do that, now.
THE FOUR ASPECTS OF OBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE,
SUBJECTIVELY EXPERIENCED
Every objective experience has a corresponding subjective experience. Here are the correspondences:
  • emergence: imagination
  • location: attention
  • particularity: intention
  • persistence: memory
IMAGINATION
Imagination always involves the emergence of something new. If it isn't new, it's something remembered. Even if it's something remembered by somebody else, if it's new, to you, you have to imagine it before you can remember it.
Imagination is the "incoming channel" of all experience. It is the emergence, in the moment, of unknown experience (not knowing what's coming, next) into memory -- first, short-term memory and then, long-term memory.
Imagination is originating an unknown, existing "otherness".
ATTENTION
Attention locates things. It distinguishes things from other things and from yourself. That's what happens when you pay attention to something: you locate it in your experience and distinguish it from everything else. You relate to it from your sense of "being here" (subjective hereness) in a subject-object manner: "your" sense of hereness (subjective) relating to what is located distinctly,  "there" (objective).
INTENTION
To move your attention to something requires intention.
Intention is the word for the impulse of movement, in living beings, whether the movement of attention or the movement of an organism;  in non-living systems, tendency is the word for automatic impulses that cause movement.
The difference between the intention (living) and tendency (non-living) is that the movements of living beings (intentional movements) are self-initiated, whereas the movements of non-living systems (tendencies) happen automatically.
Both intentions and tendencies continue until the movement is fulfilled or altered by external forces.
Intention is the intensity of a tendency happening and refusing difference.
Continuation of movement is what I mean by, "persistence" -- and persistence is the central attribute of memory.
MEMORY
Memory is persistence -- persistence is the essence of memory.
Memory is a subjective form of persistence. Materiality is the objective form of persistence.
Much of human behavior is intended to cause things to remain the way they were for the sake of security -- by means of contracts, vows, and quality control standards.
Contracts, vows, and quality control standards are instruments of memory.
In the inanimate realm, memory is mere persistence. In electronics, the persistence of a pattern of electrical charges is what is meant by, "memory". In a Universe, persistence is continuation of patterns of activity.
In living beings, memory is persistence of a definite activity pattern that involves attention (location), imagination (emergence or the "origination" of newness), and intention (movement). Memory is mental knowledge, but also genetic patterning and physiological equilibrium states.
In the evolution of living beings, what has been evolving are THE FOUR: the capacity to pay attention to the distinct locations of events, to act (move) intentionally, to remember (and cause to persist), and to imagine (to originate -- or experience the emergence of -- new experiences).
An unexpected and interesting thing happens when THE FOUR awaken more and come to a higher state of balance and integration within an individual: Experience loses its apparent solidity and binding force, revealing the transparent, formless, free, conscious depth in which experience continually arises as the person's own, natural presence and condition.
I didn't mean to spring that, only, but that's what happens.
DEVELOPMENT of THE FOUR
It is an inherent drive of conditional reality for those four faculties to develop both subjectively and objectively.
Conditional reality demands that development for the survival and thriving of living beings. You've got to pay attention, exercise intention, learn (remember), and imagine (create and/or problem-solve).
In that sense, life functions as "training wheels" (as in learning to ride a bicycle) for the development of those faculties of intelligence. It makes you pay attention and demands that you act, demands that you remember, and demands that you exercise foresight (future-imagining) about the results of your actions.
That's all fine, as far as it goes, but there occurs a point when the complexities of life have so accumulated in memory that life seems to be a log-jam of problems and solutions -- and in that log-jam, intelligence "seizes up". It's too complicated.
The "training wheels" have become an impediment; the training wheels must "come off".
The sign that that point has arrived is that accumulated memory starts to clog the incoming channel of imagination and overcomplicates everything, making life seem unworkable -- a kind of turbulent state: "stress craziness", if you will -- and at its extreme, "stress psychosis", a variety of denial seen commonly among conspiracy enthusiasts and Republicans.
This is the stage at which the next great leap of the cycle of evolution must occur, for people to right themselves and be able to steer through occasions of turbulence with a degree of intelligence and grace -- a leap of development in which we operate from a kind of baseline intelligence based upon integration of the FOUR faculties, so that the confusing density of memory gets clear, despite the ongoing triggering-power of experience.
THE NEXT LEAP of DEVELOPMENT
Life continually conspires to leave its effects in us, in memory, in subjectivity.
To stay open, sane, and clear, we must eliminate those effects, just as we must eliminate the waste of the food we take in. Otherwise, we get psychically toxic, just as we would get physically toxic, if we did not eliminate.
To manage the pile-up of experience that overwhelms intelligence, we need something new: the ability to manage our memory.
Where, before, the accumulation of memory had "survive-and-thrive" value, now, the deliberate dissolution of specific memories has "survive-and-thrive" value.
The dissolution of the binding force of memory is not what you might expect. It makes room for something new while leaving your intelligence in that area intact. It allows our learned capabilities to remain, but brings activated intention to rest. Memory "noise" quiets and our "engine" moves from "revving" (being "ready for anything") to "idling" (restful unreadiness for anything) -- a state most people have lost in the "fast pace" of life -- a state most people fear in the misguided notion that being ready for anything is the same as safety.
This return to the baseline "idling" state opens space for mental clarity and for new intelligence, until then clogged by the noise of accumulated memory patterning excessively triggered by pile-ups of memory. The return to "idling" increases the "signal-to-noise" ratio (more signal, less noise) of intelligence.
This new capability has emerged from imagination into existence as something that can be taught and learned. It has been developed, tested, and found to be consistently effective and useful for recovering clarity and poise in the midst of difficulties.
There's a "relief valve" for the pressures of an overcomplicated life. It frees us by degrees from the felt burden of life that ordinarily we carry from day to day, from hour to hour, so that we can function intelligently.
This new capability restores emotional balance and clarity in the face of life experience without having to change anything about your experience of the moment. You feel better and function better; you get relief even though nothing has improved in your circumstances.
This new capability is the part of the creative cycle of the Universe in which capacities to function appear first and then they disappear from view as the four faculties come on-line and into balance.  Then, experiences as they arise, coincide with (or appear within) the intuition of balanced integration, which moves freely and is not bound to the influential implications of experience (compulsory action signals).
The mission of reality is to manifest diversity and complexity and then to recover from entanglement in it all. It's an awakening.
Instruction for the intelligent use of THE FOUR is in line with the mission of reality.
That may sound high-falutin'. Test my words!
ENTRY-LEVEL TETRASEED AWAKENING INVOCATION
The Four Faculties of Mind That You're Always Using -- and What Happens When They Malfunction
These piece talks about the four basic faculties of mind and the consequences of their uneven development.
Four things are going on in all of us all of the time.
You've heard of them, but perhaps not heard much about them.
Those four things are
  • PAYING ATTENTION
  • EXERCISING INTENTION
  • REMEMBERING
  • IMAGINING
These four things combine in every moment to give us our experience of life, even of physical reality.
However, they don't often develop evenly -- and when they don't develop evenly, trouble follows.
ALL FOUR ARE NEEDED for ANY of them TO FUNCTION
It may not have occurred to you, but to pay attention requires all four faculties to be awake and working well, together.
You can't pay attention to something without the intention to do so.
You can't pay attention, for long, unless you can remember what you are paying attention to
You can't remember anything unless you have the intention to imagine it.
You can't follow something very well unless you can imagine where it might be headed, based on similar experience; otherwise, without remembering similar experiences everything is a surprise, to you, that catches you flat-footed. Anxiety (and performance anxiety) follows.
All four are needed.
THE TROUBLES of UNEVEN DEVELOPMENT
It's pretty obvious what happens when a person doesn't pay attention. That when accidents happen, bad judgments are made, or things get missed that should have been seen.
Intention is equally important. A deficiency of intention leads to poor results, wrong results, or no results!
The results of poor memory are also pretty obvious, so I won't elaborate, here.
Poor imagination shows up as inept problem-solving, lack of foresight, and resistance to change.
Those are the superficial consequences of uneven development.
But there are deeper consequences of uneven development.
THE DEEPER CONSEQUENCES of UNEVEN DEVELOPMENT of the FACULTIES of MIND
Because all four faculties must operate as a unity to operate, at all, when one or more of them are poorly developed, the person feels out-of-control, or at best, vulnerable and insecure. At the very least, they feel unequal to the challenges of life.
That's when changes of circumstances can throw one for a loop. Any new situation (or stimulus) is more than a person feels they can handle. They feel overwhelmed, hypersensitive. Bad reactions or upsets occur. The person feels unable to cope. Anxiety ensues.
In extreme cases of uneven development, the person may be completely incapable of an ordinary life. They may seem overactive, ADD, neurotic, or clinically disturbed.
WHY DO THESE FOUR  FACULTIES DEVELOP UNEVENLY?
Our culture values these four faculties unevenly and so they develop unevenly.
Consider education: It values memory above all the other faculties. People are taught to accumulate memories as if what they remember, alone, will save them. They're not taught how to direct and steady their attention, only that to pay attention may get them what they want or help them avoid what they don't want. It's somehow assumed that everybody is able to pay attention, if only they decide to do it (not something that anybody who has tried meditation believes). They're not taught to exercise intention particularly well; they're taught to get by with the least intention possible. They're not taught the value of imagination; they're taught to stop daydreaming -- and rather than to imagine, they're taught to give memorized "right answers" that came from somebody else!
In conventional education, it's a case of overdevelopment of memory at the expense of the other faculties.
Trauma also has a role in poor operation of these faculties. Trauma leads to suppression of memory, to not paying attention to anything resembling the traumatic situation, to suppressing imagining anything like the traumatic situation -- or to imagining anything but the traumatic situation as a way to avoid remembering it. It also leads to addictive behavior and irresponsible self-indulgence.
Imbalances of these faculties run in families. If the parents function poorly in one or more of these faculties, the children also tend to function poorly in similar ways because the parents are the children's examples of how to live. That's one reason why dysfunctions (deficiencies and eccentric behaviors) run in families.
Our final example is the entertainment media. They not only cater to a short attention span; they cultivate it.
Consider how often promotional advertising uses rapid successions of images less than one second in length. In addition to cultivating short attention-span, quick successions of images also prevent seeing and remembering details.
Consider how often video programs and movies get interrupted by advertising, breaking the continuity of attention.
So, family patterns, trauma, and cultural norms cultivate poor functioning of the basic faculties of mind.
QUIETING ANXIETY
When life is too much and anxiety ensues, the quickest way to quiet the anxiety is to get all four of these faculties awake, integrated, and balanced. It's much more difficult and much slower to change the circumstances that triggered anxiety.
Awakening and balancing these four faculties of mind works to quiet anxiety even when anxiety is well-justified!
There are particular procedures to awaken, integrate, and balance these faculties. They are known as The TetraSeed Awakening Invocations.
Here's an example:
Stupidity and Intelligence -- TetraSeed Middle-Way Memory Matrix
Make no mistake -- the human species is experiencing an epidemic of stupidity -- maybe a pandemic -- and it's put human civilization at risk.
One problem with stupid people is that they believe they are smart just because they can remember their own opinions.
Another big problem with stupid people is that they want to require everyone else to be as stupid, or to act as stupidly, as they are and do.
Excellence rankles stupid people -- and rankles even reasonably intelligent people -- when someone "does it better than they do". They envy-others who function better than they do. That's why "elite" has become an insult, when it should be a sign of accomplishment -- as in "elite athlete".
Envy involves a desire to tear others down, rather than to rise to their level. In envy, people sabotage, mis-characterize, lie, and neglect.
THE SOCIAL DYNAMICS of STUPIDITY and INTELLIGENCE
Stupid people like to hang out with other stupid people because, in their shared stupidity, they are safe from being seen more deeply by each other -- more deeply than their self-presentation or more deeply than the standard acceptances of conventional values. Stupid people don't like really to be seen deeply (rather than be superficially or conventionally regarded) because they are afraid of being found out and held to account for their stupidity. They would rather people just hold favorable opinions about them than go through the work of actually deserving favorable opinions.
There's a reason intelligent people trigger disturbing feelings in stupid people: Intelligent people see more completely, more accurately, and more deeply than stupid people; their mere "presence and way" are sufficient to trigger awakening of intelligence in stupid people -- and that can be irritating (can't it.....).
Stupid people don't want to awaken into higher intelligence because of what they expect would be burdensome responsibilities and losses of freedom, should they actually comprehend things are they are. They don't want to face their own consciences, to earn their own self-respect. Instead, they seek the appearance of respectability, regardless of what they do.
They assert that intelligent people are the stupid ones.
Stupid people don't want to wake up. They want to stay as if children protected and excused by their parents and superiors -- even as they misbehave and avoid being found out -- or if found out, to stand their ground in smug insolence or defiance.
Stupid people are content with "getting away with it".
TWO MAIN TACTICS of STUPIDITY
Because they don't like to face the actualities of the world around them, they employ two tactics to face the world:
  1. denial
  2. segregation
Denial may involve:
  • denying the legitimacy of scientific findings
  • denying the importance of certain actions
  • denying their own conscience
  • denying they will suffer the consequences of stupid behavior
Segregation may involve:
  • granting legitimacy only to other stupid people, like them
  • withholding attention from anyone whose views and concerns are not immediately like their own
  • granting privilege only to select groups that include themselves
  • excluding information that would cause their world-view to expand, to become more inclusive than it has been
Denial "shuts out". Segregation "restricts".
Intelligent people do the opposite. Doing the opposite interferes with the stupidity of stupid peoples intentions.
That's why stupid people don't like intelligent people.
FACT vs. OPINION: IMAGINATION as BETRAYAL of MEMORY
While intelligent people can comprehend what stupid people comprehend, stupid people can't (or won't) comprehend what intelligent people comprehend. They comprehend less -- both in terms of shortsightedness (lack of foresight) and in terms of refusal of responsibility for side-effects.
Instead, they substitute imagination.
They selectively select facts, assemble them into imagined scenarios (like, "COVID-19 was designed in a Chinese laboratory and let loose upon the world in an act of hostility.") and then present those scenarios as if they were fact (rather than imagined opinion).
When they perform badly, they imagine "alternative facts" and present them as "everything is wonderful" or deflect responsibility (also an act of imagination).
That's stupid.
Stupid people don't invite people to check their "facts". They don't like to have their facts (opinions) checked. So, as diversionary tactics, they coined the term "alternative facts" and they set up their own "fact checking" authorities to confirm their consensus imaginings and deny the legitimacy of anyone else's "fact checking". They "hold to their story", regardless of facts or, like Inspector Clouseau, act as if they "knew it all along" or as if "the blunder was someone else's fault".
That's denial.
Stupid people, because they believe that any opinion they hold must be true (simply because they believe it or someone in authority asserted it), act aggressively to hold control of the world.
They recruit other stupid people into their plans. Like cuckoos, they lay their eggs in the nests of wealth and power first developed by intelligent people. By bringing more of their own kind in, they consolidate their consensus to the point of majority dominance: denial and segregation en-masse. The Cuckoo Effect.
That's how institutions entrench stupidity. Think "post-modern academia". Think political parties. Think Wall Street. Think Monsanto.
The institutions of business, politics and government largely "hold the cards" -- largely control the wealth and influence needed by intelligent people to advance their work, their lives -- and our civilization.
When stupidity becomes entrenched in such institutions, people don't say or do what they ought. They act stupidly -- consistently -- with occasional squeaks from "whistleblowers".
They rationalize their stupidity by means of imagination-presented-as-facts and so insult the memory faculty -- and intelligence -- of their hearers.
If their hearers are stupid, they just go along, with it.
VOLUNTARY SELF-SUPPRESSION of INTELLIGENCE
The demand by stupid people that intelligent people stifle their own intelligence has a certain leverage. It shows up as suppression of scientific (and moral) voices, of suppression of information (redacting), withholding funding, or suppressing the results of research. These are examples. Observe for the specifics. There are plenty.
So, intelligent people, in reaching for the resources to continue their survival and development -- to somehow be influential, to make money -- dumb down their own intelligence to be more acceptable to the stupid level.
Witness the entertainment business. Witness advertising. Witness politics.
Stupid people want intelligent people to be less intelligent -- and "supposedly intelligent" people comply.
"Intelligent" people then no longer "want" to be fully intelligent, but want to be "dumber" to fit in. They become "anti-intelligent" to some degree.
That's stupid.
Stupid people deny it.
People with enough intelligence recognize it and "take the cure", just in case.
The "Cure" for Self-Suppression of Intelligence: THE MIDDLE-WAY MEMORY MATRIX: UNDERSTANDING and OUT-DEVELOPING STUPIDITY
The kind of stupidity I have described requires active suppression of ones faculties of intelligence -- at first. Then, the suppression becomes automatic and ceases to require deliberate attention. It becomes a person's way and sense of self.
This conditioning can be "self-cured" by anyone with the courage and daring to look at the matter of stupidity and intelligence, in themselves.
The "instrument" we use is The Middle-Way Memory Matrix, tuned to "stupidity" and "intelligence", to sharpen the blade of discernment.
The Middle-Way Memory Matrix "plucks the strings" and "strikes the bells" of our submerged sense of self, so that they are "heard". We discover the ways and degrees to which we have embraced stupidity, in ourselves.
The result is not some compilation of "knowing about ourselves". That's a waste.
The result is a series of intuitive self-revelations and of internal shifts of attitude and self-organization that persists long after the procedure has been done and continues to propagate its effects, in us. Repeated use of the Middle-Way Memory Matrix causes cumulative improvements of intelligence.
EXPLANATION
The Gold Key Release -- a.k.a., The Pattern-Release Process, is your go-to relieve valve for stress.  This process uses memory, intention, attention, and imagination -- four processes that, working together all at once, seem to account for the entirety of human intelligence.
It may seem odd that four functions can account for the entirety of possible experiences, but they do seem to.  The unevenness of their development in people explains a lot about the world.
MEMORY and IMAGINATION
Memory is our sense of anything at all persisting at some level of intensity.  That includes our at-present-moment experience, since our ability to recognize anything in the present moment depends upon memory.  You've got to know something like it in order to recognize it. Our sense of anything and everything is memory; our imagination "fits" our memories to what we are sensing and that's what makes things seem recognizable. I'm not saying experience is based on memory; I'm saying that it is memory -- and the three other functions: imagination, attention, and intention.
Our sense of the solidity or actuality or substantiality or reality of reality is memory -- co-arising with, and filled out, by the three other functions.
Memory forms when we have both attention on something and an intention toward it -- whether conscious and deliberate or automatic.
IMAGINATION FEELS LIKE
The Teeth of The Gold Key
Every key has teeth.
The teeth fit and unlock the lock.
When you unlock your invisible limiting conditioning
with the steps of The Gold Key Release,
you experience a Release
that feels like a Transcendent "Kiss"
an actual sensation probably unlike anything
you've experienced, before --
a Kiss of Dissolution into Formlessness
(please tolerate the metaphor).
(NOTE: "an actual sensation" means that you don't just come away thinking that you are supposed to get some result, soon, maybe later; it's that you vividly feel a distinct change in yourself -- immediately --  something unusual, something substantial. You feel more natural and different -- more like yourself.)
As the mind-habits that keep you going round and round
in "the same old same old"
dissolve and dissipate
you come free to think, feel, and move in new ways --
spontaneously, more fittingly, naturally.
GUIDELINES
The words I use in these instructions are intended to point to felt meanings, not to "word definitions".  Each step stimulates our sensibilities.  So, catch the feeling you get as you hear each step -- then rest and await the next step.
At first, some people may not feel much, depending on how deeply they feel life, in general. If you don't get much, the first time, the solution is simple: Repeat the Gold Key Release.  Each pass through is different.
At each step, take whatever comes up without evaluating it for correctness or dredging for more. Whatever comes up, take it, as is.  There's nothing you need to remember.
Use the exact wording shown, without paraphrasing (at least not until you are proficient enough to improvise improvements).  (If you want to know why, try paraphrasing and compare.)
What follows is a full explanation of how to use The Gold Key Release.  However, the process works without this explanation if you follow the recorded instructions.
The following section is for people who require some foreknowledge before trying anything new.  However, the process works without explanation, so consider this an optional preview.
The first part of Gold Key Release takes about four minutes; the second part, about seven minutes.
PREPARATION
  • Remember something - - anything - -  and notice what "remembering" feels like.
  • Imagine something - - anything - - and notice what "imagining" feels like.
This section is to awaken and sharpen your power of attention.
Alternate between remembering and imagining and repeat until you can clearly tell the difference -- and the connection -- between imagining and remembering.
One difference has to do with the degree of density of the experience and with the deliberateness with which you hold it.
Remembering feels solid; imagining feels ephemeral or likely to disappear if effort isn't maintained. . . . . and the connection? That's for you to find out.
(Here's a little hint about the relationship between imagination and memory: If you imagine something enough times or with enough intensity, the imagining gets remembered. Imagining becomes remembering. Imagining is like "the mouth of experience"; remembering is like the stomach.)
ACTION #1
Identify the item you want to release (unlock).
Your item may be one of those, below, or anything that has substance, to you.
(Choose one and make note of interesting, possible others.
In the beginning stage of practice, you may choose a specific instance or occasion  (memory you have) in which you experienced one of the items, below.  As you get better, you will become able to deal with the conditions, below, in general, rather than requiring specific memories on which to run a Gold Key Release.
So, select an item that has some intensity, to you.  It's a good practice to choose conditions that keep showing up in your life.
  • anything that bothers you
  • anger
  • sorrow
  • fear
  • guilt
  • shame
  • (more ... to be suggested in The Gold Key Release Training)
  • Be artful and clever!  Do a thorough Gold Key Release on the feeling you have from reading this entry!
At the very beginning, you may or may not have enough "presence of mind" to catch yourself in persistent patterns. Those are good "items" -- but you've got to catch yourself at them to recognize them.   Don't choose "hypotheticals" or things you've read about.  Choose something actual, in your life.
Rule of thumb: If something bothers you, THAT'S A GOOD ONE!!!
If there's something you think about, often, that's it. If you're buried in a mood, that's a good one.  If you're in a situation that brings up strong emotions, that's a good one. When you recognize one of those, it must occur to you to do The Gold Key Release.
In a formal Gold Key Release on-line training, I can provide more, and more interesting, "items".
(Click here to hear an explanation of the steps.)
"Holding the Lock in Your Hand"
Regarding your selected, "work-with" item: (to be read aloud)
State it to yourself two or three times, distinctly.
          |   | Feel, "having it".
          |   | Notice where you feel it, in you.
          |   | [ the name of your item ]
          |   | Feel the intensity of identifying [ the name of your item ].
          |   | [ the name of your item ]
          |   | Feel  the intensity of its intensity.
          |   | [ the name of your item]
          |   | Listen.
          |   | Listen.
          |   | Feel  the shape ... of its intensity.
          |   | [ the name of your item]
          |   | [ the name of your item]
|   | Think to yourself:
       "
Intending
[ the name of your item ]
       "Intending [ the name of your item ]
       "Intending refusing.
         "Refusing.
          |   | "Refusing [ the name of your item ]
          |   | "Refusing [ the name of your item ]
|   | [ the name of your item ]  [ the name of your item ]
|   | It matters.
|   | [ the name of your item ]
|   | [ the name of your item ] doesn't matter.
|   | It doesn't matter.
|   | [ the name of your item ]
|   | ... It matters.
|   |  Feel how it mattering involves YOU.
|   |  Feel how it mattering involves others.
Unlocking the Lock:
| ! | Think to yourself and feel: "It's true. It's true."
| ! | Think to yourself and feel: "It's untrue. It's untrue . . .
        It's untrue."
|  |  "It's true."
|  |  "It's untrue, it's untrue."
|  |  "It's true, it's true."
| ! | Remembering remembering, "It's true. It's true." (pause and feel)
| ! | Remembering, remembering [your item], "It's true."
| ! | Remembering remembering, "It's untrue.  It's untrue."
| ! | Remembering, remembering [your item], "It's untrue."
| ! | Remembering  [your item], "It's true."
| ! | Remembering  [your item], "It's untrue."
|  | Allow how remembering involves imagining.
|  | Stop imagining.|=|
       Allow it to dissolve, and dissipate.
       Notice:  You are awake.
(|=| The "Transcendent Kiss" feeling occurs. You'll know it when you feel it.  It's the feeling of your mind feeling amorphous -- losing its form, empty, silent)
That completes the first part of Gold Key Release.  Repetition gets more done, until the item is so gone, it doesn't affect you, anymore.
The Transcendent Kiss feeling may occur at any point during The Gold Key Release -- or after several passes through.  When it happens, relax and rest.   Prevent nothing, hold on to nothing.
Variations of The Gold Key Release exist to address common issues.  Get training in those after you have become familiar with the basic Gold Key Release and with the feeling of The Transcendent Kiss.
